Ready Player One narrated by Will Wheaton was my first audible experience and it is easily in the top 3 best decision I made in 2015. After finishing the book, I yearn to tell how much I love the book but to do so is overwhelming for me because I did not read the book, I listened to a narration of the book. Thus it is only fair if I treat both of them separately, the book and the narration.

Ready Player One, written by Ernest Cline.

I love dystopian fiction and Ready Player One is everything dystopian, from the trailer park stacks with subsidized soy meat to the virtual reality escape that distracts people from the harsh reality. Set in 2044, less than 30 years from now which makes it all too easy to relate to and all the more terrifying, the world was hit by an energy crisis where sources are scarce and whatever little that is available is priced expensively, and controlled by the iron clad of consumer giants leading to a society degradation. People find solace and comfort in an Internet virtual reality called the Oasis. The Oasis was everything to the people, inside the virtual world, they can set up an avatar and be a completely new person. Some even work in the Oasis as teachers, tech supports and even virtual garage for virtual spacecrafts. The Oasis was limitless and people use it as an escape, the only place where they can be happy. When the creator of Oasis passed away, his will was to give away the rights to Oasis and also billions of dollars to the person who can solve his final and greatest video game, to find an Easter egg hidden in the Oasis.

This story follows Wade, a high-school senior, who attended public school in the Oasis, on his quest to find the Halliday's Easter egg. This book uses a great deal of references to the 80's pop culture especially video games including some jargons, but fret not, you do not need to be an avid gamer or an 80's pop culture enthusiast to follow the plot, if anything you might finish the book with a list of 80's movies, TV series and music to watch and listen to, or at least I did. This book was an easy read, some might argue that the plot is not strong, and I agree to a certain degree. What makes this book so special is how the author created the oasis so perfectly detailed and how the authors words painted a virtual reality that is so likely to exist with the current technology that we have. There were no surprises in this book (except for a tiny one), no plot twists, but it is overall a fiery page turner because of the games and puzzles for the protagonist to solve.

Ready Player One, read by Will Wheaton.

I am already familiar with Wheaton from his multiple features in the popular TV show 'The Big Bang Theory' where he played himself, and as other reviews have said, his narration made the book even better. I am very bad at describing voice so I will not even try. I admit that I have not listen to many audiobooks to compare but so far his voice and narration is made the story even more convincing. If you have heard this comment somewhere else, I can vouch that the person speaks the truth, Wheaton is an amazing narrator. Here is a link to the audible of ready player one so you can sample the narration.

I am excited to read more from Cline but more so, to listen more to Wheaton. Ready player one is to be made into a movie directed by none other than the amazing Spielberg and set for release in 2017. You bet I will be reviewing that next. ;)

My favourite product from Colourpop is hands down the Lippie Stix in matte formula. To be completely honest, I have only tried their matte formula, thus I cannot compare between the finishes and they have several others including glossy, satin and sheer among them. Here I have a quick review on my thoughts of this product and also some swatches.

Brand: Colourpop
Product: Lippie Stix (Matte)
Formula: Matte, but although marketed as so, I find it does not dry down to a true matte, more of
a velvety finish. The formula is very comfortable and hydrating unlike the usual matte lipsticks which are commonly formulated to be lack of moisture, thus this gives the lipstick a slight sheen when first applied.
Application: Opaque, one swipe is all it takes

Colour selection: It goes above and beyond your wildest dreams, the colour selection can be overwhelming that it took me a good amount of time to decide on colours to try.

Colourpop Lippiestix (L to R) Pitch, Grind, Lumiere and Tootsi.

Colourpop Lippiestix in Lumiere. Lumiere is a mid-toned mauvy pink.
This is my favourite everyday colour to wear when I dont want to think much, it goes with everything!
Colourpop Lippiestix in Grind

Colourpop Lippiestix in Grind. Grind is very bright fuschia
and it leans towards the warmer side.
Colourpop Lippiestix in Tootsi

with grey undertone.

Now I just wish that Colourpop ships internationally because their lippies are just so good. Based on the current RM to USD,  personal shoppers often price the lippies at RM 35 (7USD) a pop. Overall, it is still an affordable price tag if you compare to lipsticks from drugstore brands (Maybelline, Revlon etc) in Malaysia which ranges from RM30-40. I do not have anything bad to say about this product, I highly recommend it and good luck in choosing colours, you will be spoiled. Until next time!

With all the highlighting game going on, I decided it is all in the good name of research to try out a highlighter from the brand Colourpop as I was going to put in an order for some of their products that I wanted to try out anyway (their lippie stixs are my favourite). I tried on the highlighter not knowing what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Hello my lovelies! I finally got my hands on sleek makeup products! *victorydance* I purchased them from colourscosmeticsmalaysia.com (link is in the sidebar) after searching high and low for websites in malaysia that sells them. Go check the website out! Other than a slight delay in delivery, due to the festive season i suppose, my shopping experience with them was worthwhile and I highly recommend them if you are looking for beauty products which are not available easily in Malaysia eg: Sleek, Wet and Wild, sigma brushes etc. Without further chitter chatter, lets  go straight to the review!

Sleek i-Divine eye palette in oh so special

It was hard for me to choose only one palette because all of them look so pretty. I decided on this one because I am a neutrals girl but there are some pinks in this palette that I would like to experiment with.

The packaging is really nice. The name suits well as the palette is very sleek looking. The feel of the casing is nice (feels rubbery to the touch) and it is very compact and not flimsy at all. But the surface tends to get dirty easily due to the material.

Top row, left to right:

1. Bow: A creamy off-white color. I like that Sleek threw in a matte highlight shade but this color is just too chalky. I would suggest use a really good liquidy primer to get this color to attach and appear otherwise I would just skip this shade.

2. Organza: A beautiful shimmery rose gold. This color blends beautifully and has a nice creamy texture. I did not experience any (very minimal) fall out while working with this shadow.

3. Ribbon: A warm corally pink. I really really do want to love this shade but this also can appear powdery/ chalky when packed on the lid. It lacks pigmentation so you would have to build up in order to get the exact color as in the palette but then it would be too powdery.

Bottom row, left to right:

1. Pamper: Matte pastel pink. Too chalky. Skip this. Seriously.

2. Gateau: Shimmery violet with gold undertone. This shade glides on beautifully on the skin. Has a creamy texture and blends well. The color is different when applied than how it appears in the palette. Once applied and blended it looks violet under cool light and gold under brighter/warmer light.

3. The mail: Matte medium brown. Unlike the previous matte colors, this one is one is well pigmented. In real life, the color is lighter than the picture i captured, it is shown better in the swatches below. This color is the closest to my skin tone and i used it as a blending color.

Top row, left to right:

1. Gift basket: Shimmery coppery gold. Like the other shimmer colors, it applies so well and has no fallout. Again i apologize for the bad lighting. The color is way off here but the swatches below are better. I promise! -.-'

2. Glitz: A cool tone shimmery blue. Has a creamy texture and an extremely well blend-ability.

3. Celebrate: Shimmery taupe-ish mauve. Again, a beautiful dark shimmery colour that applies impressively and gives off excellent pigmentation.

Bottom row, left to right:

1. Boxed: Matte dark cool tone brown. This color is lacks in pigmentation but it can be build up without being cakey. Blends well.

2. Wrapped up: Matte taupe plum. If you want a twist in your normal neutral eye look, use this colour instead of a dark brown in the crease. The colour is buildable without being cakey and blends well too.

3. Noir: Matte jet black. Colour payoff is extremely well. I would use this in the outer V to intensify my eye makeup or even as a liner for a softer eyeliner effect.

Sleek Blush by 3 Palette in Lace

L to R: Crochet, Guipure, Chantilly

L to R: Crochet, Guipure, Chantilly (Under direct natural light)

L to R: Crochet, Guipure, Chantilly (Under shade)
1. Crochet: Bright warm tangerine. Highly pigmented! It has a matte finish and when use lightly can give off a beautiful sheer healthy glow on the cheeks.

2. Guipure: Shimmery golden coral. This colour is beautiful but sadly i do not think that that it can be pulled off as a blush. Maybe a highlighter if used lightly. It  glides on beautifully on the skin but the shimmer makes it hard to work with. I would suggest use it as an eyeshadow, what a waste! ;(

3. Chantilly: Bright matte pinky coral. Again, excellent color payoff, blends well, buildable and easy to work with. I like sheering off bright blushes to give a glowing effect and this colour is great for that purpose!

Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light

L to R: Bronzer, Highlighter (Light)

L to R: Bronzer, Highlighter

 1. Bronzer: A medium toned brown. This product applies sheerly but can be build up for precise contouring. It blends easily and the medium toned colour makes it perfect for contouring. Not too orange and not too muddy.

 2. Highlighter: Shimmery cool tone peach. This product is not the most finely milled shimmer in the world and can give off noticeable chunky glitters when applied. It is very well pigmented though and blends really well.

L to R: Nyx Matte Bornzer in Medium, Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light, Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Application on face

Ribbon on lid, Organza in inner corner and inner part under the eye,  The Mail as blending colour in the upper crease, Boxed in the outer V and crease, Wrapped Up smudged under the waterline and I used Noir to tightline the upper waterline.

Bronzer to contour and blush in the colour Chantilly.

Final Thoughts

Sleek i-Divine Eye Palette, RM 52: B-
Get it ONLY if you are beginner in makeup and would like to start out with eyeshadows and you want a budget friendly option or you want to venture out with new colours but do not want to put a hole in your pocket. The colour spread is vast and you will be spoilt with choices. I would highly suggest to use a good primer with this palette.

Sleek Blush By 3, RM 58: A-
Get it. You cannot go wrong with this cheek palette. I will gladly turn a blind eye on the shimmery blush because the other two are ah-ma-zing. There are a lot of colour scheme to choose from and I highly recommend this for beginners and also people who are looking to expand their collection. I would suggest use a light hand for applying.

Sleek Face Contour Kit, RM 44.50: A
Get it. What more can I say? The bronzer is pigmented, applies beautifully on the skin, blends well, great colour and non-cakey at all. Skip the highlighter and just use the bronzer.

I hope this review is helpful and any comments are very much appreciated! Ta loves!
